Overview

The performance assessment of new buildings is, simply put, a kind of residential health check, which is aimed at "safety, health, convenience, comfort, economy and sustainable use" as pursued by residents. Such an assessment improves the overall residential experience, and the assessment is divided into 8 categories for functional performance: structural safety, fire prevention safety, barrier-free environment, air environment, light environment, sound environment, energy and water-saving, and residential maintenance. From these objective assessment results, there are four grades used in order to facilitate homebuyers in choosing a suitable house that meets their personal needs before purchase.

Benefits of Application

Existing buildings in Taiwan are licensed according to the "Building Act", which only regulates the most basic requirements. The assessment, based on the standard inspection procedures and contents by fair and objective professional institutions and personnel with scientific and quantitative assessment reasoning, comes up with a certificate of assessment based on the residential characteristics and the differences in performance. For buildings that are marked by the objective housing quality and received higher assessment due to their excellent performance, they are provided to consumers for choosing their suitable residences in line with their wants and needs.
